Welcome to my little shack!
This is still largely placeholder text!
I'm still in the early stages of putting this space together. The formatting is definitely better than it was before, but that's pretty much all just from the website template mentioned in the credits below.
What's going to be here?
Currently, at the very least, I'm planning on setting up a blog page; somewhere to dump thoughts about whatever into Posts and maybe even have a little comment section set up, and a page for my stream schedules.
I stream by the way! Come check me out on twitch!
Why am I building this shack?
I came here from Chohost, as I'm sure a lot of the folks reading this did. If you're here from that collapse, welcome in! You probably already know what I'm doing here!
But to catch up anyone who doesn't know, Cohost is- WAS a social media website, functionally pretty similar to tumblr, but with a few key differences.
- It was built from the ground up by, and largely for, LGBTQ and neurodivergent folks.
- NO NUMBERS. Unless you went seriously out of your way to alter the front end of the site for yourself through plugins (or sat there and counted every user in the list) there was, by design, no way to immediately tell how many likes or reblogs a post had, or how many followers you or anyone else had. This rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way, but honestly, it was huge for me. It had a way of equalizing everyone. Suddenly that artist you like isn't this huge account with a million followers, it was just some nerd, here to look at memes like you or like anyone else.
Well, whatever the reasons, it seems like a decent number of folks decided Cohost was the last useable social media platform. Places like Twitter and Instagram, even Tumblr - often called the queerest place on the internet - feel, and often ARE, actively hostile. Cohost was never perfect, but it was the last place some could call home.
So some of them decided to just build their own homes wherever they could, and hope that they could maintain and build at least some of the connections they made in the house of Eggbug.
Anyway. That's why I'm building this little shack. Welcome in! Take your shoes off before you come inside!
Links and buttons!
Eventually I'd like the links and buttons and such that I gather from friends and cool stuff I find to have their own section, but for now, this chunk of my front page should do!
